A personal end-of-year note from Genki Partnerships

Hey, Matteo from Genki here.
I wanted to send a slightly more personal newsletter this time, to close out the year and share a bit of what 2025 has looked like on the road.
At the beginning of this year, I definitely wasn’t expecting to write my last newsletter of 2025 from Rovaniemi, in the Finnish Lapland. Yet that’s exactly where I’m sitting right now, surrounded by snow and three of my closest friends whom I hadn’t seen in nine months.
It all started when Sonny wrote in our group chat a few months ago: “We haven’t seen each other for so long… why don’t we all meet in Santa Claus Town before Christmas and be kids again for a few days instead of back home in Italy?”
How do you say no to that?
We’re all in our thirties now, living completely different lives - one in Dubai, one in the U.S., one still in Italy growing raspberries (and disappearing whenever the harvest is over to explore countries that would never even make it onto my wishlist). But we share the same curiosity for the world, and that was enough for all of us to say yes without thinking twice.
So here we are, reunited in the coldest place we could’ve possibly chosen, feeling strangely at home and reminded that even as adults, there’s still a bit of magic left in the world.

I’ve been nomading for the last five years, but this year felt different. Somewhere between flights and new cities, I found my rhythm - what I enjoy, how I like to live, and what I want more of.
